Many of our team do “front of house” roles, such as meeting and greeting visitors, managing the shop and reception, giving guided tours to small groups, or talking to visitors about a favourite item in the museum.

We have craft workshops to look after, family activities and evening events to run and generally keeping on top of our museum from top to bottom!

Volunteers are normally with us for a morning shift or an afternoon shift, hours can be very flexible and duties include opening up the museum or closing it down.

Behind the scenes there are other roles, such as research and writing and keeping in touch with local schools.

Enjoy benefits including :

  • A gift of Museum  membership
  • Discounted events, classes and shop purchases
  • A parking contribution
  • A branded museum fleece
  • Social events including our summer party and Christmas drinks
